Lessons we learn
The video caused me to pause and reflect on the biggest life lessons from my own father…
There were the basic ones, always be truthful and always be helpful… and the biggest influential lesson from my father, the retail business owner? Help people buy, don’t sell them.
My Dad used to proudly say to me, “I’ve never sold anything to anybody. I listen to what they tell me they want, and I help them buy what they need.” He was always being of service, and I believe his customers respected him and liked him for that… they kept coming back, and kept referring business to him. This lesson has guided my approach for my entire career. I’ve also found many published sales experts echo this sentiment over the years, and I believe it is the foundation for a great, long term client experience.
